About Amise

Three friends who didn't want to do this alone.

We started Amise as three friends who did not want to go into a saturated, yet high-demand market by ourselves. Amise, to us, is simply a means to be able to help people in the most effective way we can — by making our rates affordable and making it accessible to people from all backgrounds.

When we were in college together, we advocated for students to have access to free therapy, and believed that mental health should not be a privilege.

As freshers, it was also important for us to make sure we met every ethical standard to ensure that we are providing the best care possible. We do this through a supervision programme that each of us partakes in on a regular schedule.

We are always trying to learn and grow without compromising on what we really stand for. We are passionate about our work and hold ourselves to the highest standard of therapy practice.

This is our story, what's yours?

What we stand for

Four things we won't compromise on

Affordable

A sliding scale for students and one flat price for everyone else. No packages, no upsells.

For every background

Therapy is for everyone; this includes for people from queer communities, gender minorities, religious and caste minorities.

High standards

We have a supervisor to hold us accountable, and we conform to professionally accepted guidelines of counselling and therapy.

Always learning

We believe knowledge is not finite, which is why we keep learning from our supervisor, our peers and our clients, so we can give you the best quality of care.

How we work

A small therapy practice, on purpose.

We're not a platform. You won't be matched to a stranger from a database of 200. You get one of the three of us — and the other two as second opinions.

Therapist fit

If you think someone else fits better, we will handle the transition smoothly. Therapist fit is crucial for positive change.

Queer-friendly

People of all genders and sexualities are accepted and celebrated.

Confidential, of course

What you say remains between you and your therapist.

Supervision

We work under supervision to review cases and ensure ethical standards. Client confidentiality is maintained throughout.

More about us

The small print, in plain words

Why "Amise"?

‘Ami’ means ‘us’ in Konkani, which is our therapist Esha’s mother tongue. ‘Amise’ together means you receiving the mental health care you deserve, from us. Superficially, it also has the initials of our names together :D

Why we keep it affordable

We believe that mental health is primary care that should be accessible to all people. Mental distress is not limited to a certain section of the community, and our goal with Amise was to provide mental health care to members of all factions of society.

What we don't do

We don’t prescribe medication, we don’t see minors, we do not give diagnoses, and we are not an emergency service. If you need any of those, we’ll help you find someone who does.

Some of our favourite quotes

Saanya: “One day at a time, the rest is confetti.”
Inishaa: “Human beings are never going to be perfect. The best we can do is to keep asking for help and accepting it.”
Esha: “That orange, it made me so happy, as ordinary things often do.”
